Paravur (Ernakulam): A tusker that was chained on a vacant land here collapsed. As the elephant failed to stand up on its own, a crane was used to help the elephant get up safely.
The elephant named Pulloott Unnikrishnan was chained at a private property at Virat Road in Vazhikulangara in Paravur. It was chained on the compound after a programme in a temple. Another elephant also was undergoing rejuvenation therapy on the same compound.
As the elephant’s tusks are not trimmed, they have grown longer and heavier. The compound wall was demolished to make way for the crane. After the tusker was provided with food and water, it seemed active and normal.
