Couple ties knot at police station as relatives oppose marriage
Kasaragod: When the relatives opposed the marriage of a pair of lovers, the police station became the venue of their wedding. The lovers from Kasaragod sought police help for getting married as some of their relatives did not approve their marriage. Thus Kollanganam native Balakrishnan and Niveditha tied the knot at Kasaragod town police station on Monday afternoon in the presence of policemen.
The couple happened to fall in love, during a wedding ceremony at Mangalore two and a half years ago. They planned to get married with consent of their families. Though the groom’s mother and bride’s father supported them, other relatives opposed their wedding.
Finally, when the couple went to the registrar’s office to get married, they informed that they have to wait for one month after filing the application for it. Later, they approached Kasaragod town police station. When the police advised them to get married at the temple nearby, the couple left the station but returned after buying a wedding chain.
