Coronavirus restrictions fail; Over 1500 people arrive at Kodungallur temple
Kodungallur: The attempts to control the number of devotees arriving to Sree Kurumbakkavu temple failed. Over 1500 devotees were present at the temple to witness the Kozhikkallumoodal ritual held on Friday morning. Kodungallur Tehsildar has sent a report including the video footage and pictures of the ritual to the district collector.
On the backdrop of the COVID-19 outbreak, the chief minister and Kochin Devaswom Board members had requested many times that the devotees and those who perform the Komaram should stay away from Kodungallur Bharani festival and only the rituals can be held.
The Bhagavathi family that hold the Kozhikkallumoodal ritual and the representatives of Thacholi family from Malabar had decreased the number of their members following the instruction. Only a few persons performing Komaram from northern regions had arrived the temple for the ritual.
After the Kozhikkallumoodal ritual, devotees and Komarams will start arriving in flocks from north districts till Aswathi Kavutheendal ceremony.
