Completed 10 PG courses and PhD, but this college principal is still a student
Kunnamkulam: CP Babu, the principal of Akkikkavu Mar Osthatheos College, wanted to be a doctor. Twice he wrote the entrance exam but did not get it. Though he pursued teaching career, he continued academics as well. He has completed ten postgraduate courses. Now he has obtained Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Kalady University.
‘Teaching is important when you are a teacher. This usually continues until retirement. Knowledge grows with learning,' this is Babu’s principle. He graduated in Botany from St. Thomas College, Thrissur in 1987. He later completed his B.Ed and M.Ed in Science.
Then he targetted to complete 10 PG courses within 2014. Learning was not a problem as he continued teaching. Now, he is studying M.Sc Applied Psychology.
At the age of 42, he became the principal of the John Paul Memorial B.Ed college, Labbakkada. He also serves as the Resource Person for PG Psychology Students of Calicut and Bharatiyar Universities and as the District President of the Calicut University Principal Council.
Babu hails from Kuruvannur in Veloor. He is a teacher of religious studies in the Archdiocese of Thrissur. His wife Honey is a a teacher at Thrissur Thope Higher Secondary School. Emmanuel, Maria and Hannah are his children.
