Complaint lodged against neighbour for killing pet cat and eating it
Kottayam: In a bizarre incident, a man alleged that the police remained inactive on his complaint that his pet cat was killed and eaten as curry by his neighbour. SH Mount native Sanju Stephen raised the complaint that his pet cat was shot dead by their neighbour and police did not take his plaint seriously.
Though Gandhi Nagar police summoned the opposing party to the station, but talked in favour of them. The complainant also alleged the police told the neighbour that ‘you could have poisoned the cat instead of shooting it’. Also the police did not take interest to conduct post-mortem of the cat, he said.
As per the complaint, Sanju’s two pet cats were shot by his neighbour. But one of the cat returned home with a wound on its belly, it died the next day. He has also lodged complaints with Animal Husbandry Office and Friends of Animal organisation. Sanju bought the foreign breed cat for Rs 3000 two years ago.
Gandhi Nagar CI Anoop Jose said they could not find any reason to suspect the opposing party. But he possesses a gun that does not require license. The investigation is continuing, he added.
