Chinese fishing baits trend in market; artificial baits catch even giant fish
Kollam: Those who love fishing have a good news. Now they don’t have to go in search of fishing baits. Artificial baits imported from China hit the market quickly.
People who tried the new baits said that they could catch giant fish with the new baits. New models of fishing hooks and baits are available in shops and e-commerce platforms.
Life-like baits are available at low price. Fishing hooks attached with artificial baits are used to trap giant fish. These are called fishing lures. Their price ranges from Rs 150 to Rs 4000.
Another fishing item is fishing shad made of rubber. They look and smell like original fish.
In some other method, baits are arranged like a chain to catch multiple fish at a time. Fishing rods are available for Rs 750 to Rs 60,000.
Cost of fishing line ranges from Rs 300 to Rs 7000 for 300 metre. Bait casting reels which are used to cast the line cost upto Rs 1000-30,000.
Though the investment for fishing is a bit high due to the price of the equipment, many people can be seen catching fish from fishing harbour in Sakthikulangara in Kollam.
They keep travelling to Thankassery, Neendakara, Azheekkal, Perumathura, Poompuhar and Thoothukudi just for fishing.
“Sometimes we can catch giant fish and it will fetch attractive price. But the thrill of fishing is more important than the price and profit,” said Nizamuddheen, a fishing lover.
