Cashews from Kollam will add flavour to Tirupati laddu
Kollam: Tirupati temple will sign a contract with two public sector companies in Kollam for cashew nuts for making laddu, the main prasadam of the temple. Contract will be entered with Cashew Development Corporation and Capex in October, said J Mercykutty Amma, minister for cashew industry.
Cashew is the main ingredient of laddu in Tirupati. As many as 4 lakh ladoos are made per day. Earlier, cashew was bought from private companies.
A permanent stall of cashew will be established on the premise of Tirupati temple. S Jayamohan, chairman of Cashew Development Corporation said cashew nut will be made available at Sree Padmanabhaswami Temple, Sabarimala, Palani temple, mosques in Ponnani, Maramon Convention venue, Lulu Mall and Market Fed.
During Onam festival season, the corporation had made a sale of Rs 5.5 crores, said the chairman.
