Bus driver Deepa turns ambulance driver during COVID-19 period
Kozhikode: Deepa Joseph will don the role of an ambulance driver during the COVID-19 period. Vilangad native Deepa will drive around in her ambulance through the Kadathanadan roads from Monday. The ambulance was handed over to her by Pranavam Youth Development Centre.
Deepa was a bus driver at Puliyavu National Arts and Science College. Mathrubhumi had reported Deepa’s life and her proficiency in handling heavy vehicles. However, the unexpected lockdown caused by COVID-19 affected her. She did not have any source of income as the college remained closed.
Meanwhile, a friend informed her about the vacancy for an Ambulance driver at Pranavam Trust. When she contacted the authorities, they were willing to hand over the vehicle to her. She has been instructed to report to duty from Monday after an interaction with youth development authorities at Pranavam.
Deepa, daughter of Vilangad native Joseph, secured her four wheeler license 15 years back. In 2016, she secured license for heavy vehicles from Perinthalmanna RTO office. Deepa is also a Karate black belt holder. Her husband, Anilkumar, works at a workshop near Thottilpalam. They have two children- Elbin and Angel.
