Amabalpuzha: Violating the official restriction on social distancing amid the lockdown over coronavirus outbreak, a bride-seeing ceremony was held here on Thursday. Police identified the house through drone-based surveillance mechanism in the coastal region near Ambalapuzha.
As finding people gathered in front of a house here through the real-time drone visuals, police rushed to the house. When they reached there, they came to know that a bride-seeing ceremony was being conducted there in the presence of some close relatives and neighbours.
Police advised the people on the importance of social distancing amid the pandemic outbreak and left the house.
People were surprised to see the drone which deployed for the aerial surveillance of the coastal region.
Youngsters who spotted the drone managed to flee after finding the police jeep which was following the drone.
In most of the drone visuals, the crowd was spotted in front of rations shops as free ration supply kicked off in the state. Police also visited the ration shops and asked the people to maintain safe distance as social distancing is important.
Drone surveillance was carried out under a team led by Amabalapuzha CI T Manoj at Vandanam, Neerkunnam, Valanjavazhi, Karoor, Amabalpuzha west and Thakazhi.
Drone surveillance in every police station limit
In Alappuzha district, Police have tightened the regulations imposed by the government and district administration. Drone (helicam) based surveillance was initiated in the district as per the direction of district police chief James Joseph.
As part of the initial stage, drones were handed over to Station House Officers in 25 police stations to carry out the aerial surveillance.
By using a drone, police will be able to easily carry out aerial surveillance in 3 kilometres. With this surveillance mechanism, police will be able to collect accurate data on the number of vehicles on roads and crowded places etc to take action against lockdown violation.
