Bihari woman leaves Kerala with gratitude for Savithri
Thrissur: After three long months, Manju Devi and her husband Vijay returned to their native place in Bihar on Saturday. Amid the lockdown days in Kerala, the couple were blessed with a baby boy.
While leaving home, they expressed their sincere gratitude to Savithri Ramachandran, a panchayat member at Madakkathara here.
Savithri had taken care of Manju like her own daughter during and after her delivery. Because of this, the migrant worker couple has named their son after Savithri’s elder son Siva.
Manju Devi was unable to leave to her homeland for delivery due to the lockdown over COVID-19 outbreak.
Realising Manju’s struggle to find a bystander at the hospital, Savithri came forward to take care of her day and night.
She nursed the mother and child for a week at Thrissur district hospital. When they got discharged from the hospital, Savithri took them to her home.
Savithri Ramachandran worked in agriculture university for 36 years. At present, she is serving as a member of 13th ward in Madakkathara grama panchayat.
Manju and Savithri broke into tears while bidding goobye to each other on Saturday.
Manju and her husband Vijay were employed at a plant nursery here.
