Belgian Malinois 'Judy' to give strength to Alappuzha police force
Alappuzha: Adding strength to Police K-9 wing of the District Police, the Belgian Malinois dog named Judy reached Alappuzha. The one-year-old dog has completed training in tracker trade.
Belgian Malinois dogs are widely used for tracing explosives and narcotic substances and also to prove crimes like theft and murder. This is the most commonly found breed in the dog squads all over the world.
Belgian Malinois was used by US army for raiding Al-Qaeda hideouts in Afghanistan and to track ISIS leader al-Baghdadi. These dogs are known for their extraordinary intelligence, alertness, loyalty to owner and sensitive nature.
Judy was brought to Kerala from Punjab Home Guards Canine Training and Breeding Institute when it was only 3 months old. Judy was trained under CPOs Thomas Antony and Prashanth Lal in Alappuzha K-9 squad under Sub Inspector Bijuraj.
During the training period, Judy received a silver medal from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for excellent performance. District Police Chief G Jayadev said that Judy is expected to bring tremendous changes in the investigation.
