Being confined to a stretcher could not stop Raees from protesting against CAA
Kozhikode: Raees Hidaya is a name that people in Kerala will remember at least once when stories of survival are told. 90 percent of Raees’ body is paralysed, yet there is not a place he has not visited lying in his strechter, there is not a dream that he has not realised. Now he is in the fore front of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Raees is proudly saying that he cannot just sit back when the entire country is awake.
Raees has been actively involved in the protests ever since they were organised at Kozhikode railway station after the students of Jamia Milia Islamia were attacked by police. He also took part in the 'Art Attack' protest held at Kozhikode by various artists and artistes. He lied down in the stretcher with the help of his friends till the end of the protest that concluded at Kozhikode beach. With this Raees has also become a symbol of the nationwide protest against the central government.
Raees was also an active presence in the joint protest march held in the city. He does not represent any political party or religious organisation. Instead, his active participation was based only on his interest and firm stance.
90 percent of Raees' body got paralysed in an accident that took place 17 years ago. It is Raees' friends that take him to various places as per his interest.
