Artist living in hut makes numerous sculptures; dreams of own house to keep them safe
Elavumthitta (Pathanamthitta): Chenneerkara native Satheesh is a different artist. Despite going through hardships in life, he decided to continue with sculpture. Satheesh lives with his wife and two children in a hut roofed with plastic sheet. While fighting the odds, he does not stop making craft items.
Satheesh is unable to keep safe his sculptures in the small hut. He has made many different sculptures including a sail boat inside a bottle. A painting worker by profession, Satheesh started making sculpture in 2015, combining minor experiments during painting works.
Elastic of old dresses, carved piece of teak wood, earbuds and other objects are used as raw materials for making craft items. Teak wood is used as it is the only wood that is flexible enough to push inside a bottle. Sculpture is pushed into bottles filled with M-seal. He has made 15 such items and has kept them in his hut.
Satheesh’s talent came to light after Elavumthitta Janamaithri beat officer S Anvar Shah visited his house. House made of sand and card board, house boat made of bamboo and wood and two wheeler made of newspaper are some of the crafts made by Satheesh.
