An adventure in making: Malappuram girl and friends off to Kashmir
Malappuram: A three-member squad from Urangattiri near Areekode, is headed to the mesmerizing valleys of Kashmir, to embrace the life and culture of the roads that lead their way. Sahla, a 21-year-old girl is leading the squad which includes her friends Muhammed Shammil and Mashoor Shan. The trio started their journey that takes three months time in their bicycles.
With the blessing from their family members and Areekode police, Sahla and friends started their adventurous trip.
Sahla, daughter of Parappan Sakher Hussain and Hafsath, is a journalism student studying in Madhya Pradesh. Muhammed Shammil works as an electrician in a private hospital in Manjeri and had previously travelled to Kashmir in 2019. Mashoor Shan, a teacher of ITI in Areekode, has a similar experience of interstate travelling.
They anticipated the risks and problems involved and had taken vaccination as well. They hope to overcome the travel restrictions in state borders with the vaccination certificates.
They carry tents and hope to get some help from other travel groups. Initially, they were planning to go through Maharasthra. However, with the ongoing flood, they opted for a route through Hyderabad. If everything goes as planned, they hope to continue the journey to Nepal and Bhutan as well.
