All hopes lost: Chinnamalu, family on verge of eviction
Pantheeramkavu (Kozhikode): Chinnamalu is unsure of where she would go if she becomes homeless, along with her sick husband and son. Chinnamalu lives in a rented house in Olavanna with her husband Rama (70), a cancer patient, and her son Suresh Babu (30), who is suffering from epilepsy. The owner of the house has asked them to vacate the house after she failed to pay the rent.
The family rented the house a year ago on a monthly rent of Rs 3,500. They also paid an advance of Rs 40,000, which was received as a share of family assets. But as they failed to pay the rent for several months, the landlord has now asked the family to vacate the house.
After her husband fell ill, Chinnamalu could not go to work. The son, who has epilepsy, is also facing a similar circumstance. The food, medicine, and other necessities for the family are currently provided by the neighbors.
Rs 2 lakh has been sanctioned for the family to purchase land under the Life Mission scheme. However, they failed to find 3 cents of land suitable for building a house. If they manage to get the land, then they will be eligible to receive Rs 4 lakh for the construction of the house. As of now, all the hopes are diminishing for her and the family.
