Kottakkal: At the age of 63, Gopalakrishnan is as smart and active as a young chap. With the same cheerfulness, he started riding on his bicycle from his house at Padinjakkara on Monday. But this time it is not a regular ride, but a long journey to Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. He has to travel at least 1100 kilometers to and fro.

He names his journey as ‘a small prayer for universal peace’. “God Sathya Sai Baba worked for world peace. So, I decided to set my destination there,” he explained the reason for choosing Puttaparthi as his destination. He plans to take the Nadukani- Gudalur route. It is 500 km distance to one direction alone. He calculates that by travelling 100 km every day, 500 km can be covered in 5 days.

K. P. Gopalakrishnan residing in Padinjakkara in Kottakkal is hard core devotee of Sathya Sai Baba. After retiring from service as Crime Branch sub-inspector in 2010, he turned into a full-time worker of the Sai Seva Samithi. He said that even the small prayers are worthy at a time when violence lashes the world. Kavanoor native Vaisakh also accompanies Gopalakrishnan in his journey. He will join from Manjeri.
