After scoring A plus, Sreelakshmi still in dilemma about future
Idukki: Scoring A plus in all subjects is a great achievement for every SSLC student. But Sreelakshmi, a native of Nedumkandam, could not celebrate her success as poverty turns a villain in her life.
She completed her education till SSLC with the help of Balika Bhavan. Winning A plus in all subjects was her dream and she successfully achieved it. But she is anxious whether she would be able to pursue her dreams. She wants to become a civil service official. But her family needs financial support for her studies.
Sreelakshmi was taken to Amala Balika Bhavan at Kanthippara following her father’s death when she was young. She has been studying here from sixth standard. Nuns and other inmates of the convent have given all financial support to her for her schooling.
She passed SSLC examination at the St. Sebastian’s School in Kanthippara in flying colours.
Her family, including mother Suja and two siblings, are living in a rented house at Nedumkandam. Sreelakshmi’s mother is working as a sales woman at a textile shop. The family is struggling to meet their expenses from this small income.
Balika Bhavan took Sreelakshmi after knowing about the problems of the poor family.
Even after scoring good marks, this poor girl and family is still worried about the future. Help from noble people is the last resort for Sreelakshmi to continue her studies.
