Edappal: This father and son are a role model for Malayalees. When we mock them as migrant laborers from Tamil Nadu by calling ‘Anna’, we should respect their hard work. Sundaram and his son Sakthivel from Salem is a perfect example of hard work.
Sakthivel, a mechanical engineer diploma holder, is working with his father in a farm at Kololambu. He wishes to study for B. Tech and is ready to do any work including agriculture job and coconut tree climbing.
Sundaram reached Kerala in search of a job six years ago. He decided to migrate in order to meet the expense of son’s education and daughter’s marriage.
His son Sakthivel also accompanied him after his 10th standard. He learned everything quickly and earned a good amount to continue his studies at Salem. With this earning, he completed plus two and Mechanical Engineering diploma from CSI College, Salem.
Sundaram has managed to arrange his daughter’s wedding according to his wish.
After having a debt of Rs 2.5 lakhs, Sakthivel has decided to take a break from higher studies. He has planned to work hard with his father as a perfect farmer for a year. He vowed that he should pay his debts before higher studies.
For B.Tech, he needs to pay Rs 26,000 per year. According to Sakthi, he can easily earn the money for the fees with the job in Kerala.
Sakthi is determined that he will become an engineer at any cost and ready to work hard for it.
Sundaram and Sakthi are working in an agriculture farm owned by Latheef in Kololambu. Five years ago, Latheef took voluntary retirement from Central Armed Police Force and started the farm.
