A borewell in Idukki continues to overflow
Idukki: At a time when the scorching heat resulted in drought in various places in the state, a borewell continues to overflow since a year at Rajakkad in Idukki. The borwell at Valiyathazhath Thankachan’s residence in NR City surprised everyone with the rare incident.
People from the nearest three panchayats are collecting water from here due to water scarcity in their villages.
Thankachan decided to dig a borewell at his residence in order to overcome water scarcity in summer. Workers from Tamil Nadu dug the borewell here.
After digging 300 feet, water was found and on further digging upto 700 feet, water started to overflow rapidly from the well.
During last summer, Rajakkad, Rajakumari and Senapathi panchayats supplied water to the public from this well.
Thankachan does not charge any amount for water supply from his well.
