65-year-old man digs 14-feet deep well, all alone!
Panjal native Abdul Khader began to dig a pit to harvest rain water on the premises of his house in last July. As he kept on digging, the depth of the pit increased and gradually it turned out to be a well with a depth of 14 feet.
Abdul Khader returned to native place before 8 years after expat life. He was running hotels in Bahrain and Saudi. Now, lives as a cook at Panjal.
Abdul began to dig the pit since last July. The work was stopped as the rains intensified. He resumed digging after the rainy season and started doing little modifications to the pit. As the depth of the pit increased, he changed his thought and finally decided to dig a well.
During his free time after cooking job, he dug and removed soil all alone. Later, pulley and platform were set up to remove soil.
He climbs down into the well with 5 buckets with the help of a ladder. After filling the buckets with soil, he would arrange its handles in a way that could be hooked easily from above. He would then climb up and pull the buckets with rope and pulley.
Water was found after digging 11 feet. The flow of water intensified as he dug 3 more feet. Natives who laughed at him initially now showered him with greetings.
