Kalady: A captive elephant that was noted for having three tusks has died of age here. The ‘triple tusker’ named as Kalady Ganeshan was owned by Neeleeswaram Kottamam native Thomas.
Ernakulam range forest officer M. K. Ranjith said that the elephant died of age related ailments. The elephant was about 60 years old. It died at the land of its owner at Kottamam on Monday by 9 am.
The tusker had last attended the procession of Arattupuzha festival. It had an additional small sized tusk close to the left tusk.
Veterinary doctors Davis and Jessy examined the carcass of the elephant. Forest officers P. K. Manoharan, Ramkumar and K. S. Vinod completed the procedures. The carcass will be buried in Perunthodu forest after postmortem.
