`Celebrate baldness' is the motto of this newly-formed organisation in Malappuram
Malappuram: Bald men need not hang their head in shame anymore. A group of ‘bald people’ has formed a statewide organization to regain confidence among balding men. The All Kerala Bald Headed People’s Association (AKBHPA) aims to boost the self confidence of youth and eradicate the social stigma around baldness. ‘Do handicapped people live trying to hide or conceal their disability? Why hide baldness?’ the members raised the question.
The organization highlighted the need to end the exploitation by hair fixing firms to mint money by conning the bald men. Muneer Bukhari, Chairman of the organisation, said that they plan to expand the organisation by inducting eminent personalities and leaders into its folds.
"There are a large number of youth who live in self-hatred and despair. The organisation will serve for the purpose of boosting the confidence in them and for other philanthropic activities. In fact the idea of starting an organisation for the bald people came from actor Mammukoya," said one of the member T K Ravi.
''One should have the confidence to live with baldness without pursuing to wear a wig. Baldness is not a disability. There are many problems with artificial hair. It cannot withstand rain. Artificial wigs are like hats. We don't know when it will come off from the head. There are many companies which extract millions of rupees from fixing wigs." He asks, 'Isn't it better to live with a natural head?'
