Dubai: The first regional conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha (World Kerala Assembly), the event hosted by the state government of Kerala to intervene in the problems of expatriates and to ensure their participation in the development of the state, will be held in Dubai on Friday. The conference that will last till Saturday will form creative solutions to the problems of expatriates. It is indicated that some announcements favourable to the expats will be made during the conference.
The Dubai conference is held as part of conducting regional conferences in various countries on the first anniversary of World Kerala Assembly. Dubai Etisalat Academy is the venue of the conference. More than 400 guests including the people’s representatives, members from middle east countries and special invitees will attend the conference.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the conference in various sessions on both days. Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan, NORKA Roots vice chairman K. Varadarajan and CEO Harikrishnan Namboothiri are already present at the venue as part of its pre-arrangements. This is the first conference of the World Kerala Assembly held outside the state. Former minister K. C. Joseph MLA will attend on behalf of the opposition leader.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will officially inaugurate the conference chaired by the Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan at 4 pm. NORKA vice chairman M. A. Yussuff Ali, Dr. Ravi Pillai, Dr. Azad Moopen and eight representatives from six West Asian countries also will address the gathering. The chief minister will address about 15,000 expatriates during the public event at 7 pm. Cultural programmes also will be conducted after the sessions.
