Sharjah: Officials raided a house and seized a white lion cub, 2 tiger cubs and 2 monkeys illegally kept in a house here. The Environments and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) and Sharjah police raided the residential area and found the animals from a house.
The officials reported that the animals were housed here to be sold online. The EPAA officials have been monitoring the area after receiving information on illegal housing of the animals.
In UAE, only public and private zoos and science research centres are allowed to house wild animals. People who illegally possess wild animals at their residence are liable to pay one lakh Dirham as penalty for violation of the law.
At the same time, people are allowed to own wild animals after arranging comfortable housing for it and receiving permission from the authority.
