Wayanad man reported missing in Saudi Arabia 11 years ago confirmed dead

Thalappuzha: A youth from Wayanad district, who was reportedly missing in Saudi Arabia 11 years ago, has been confirmed dead.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Nazar (22), a native of Chingam in Thalappuzha, by Indian Embassy officials in Saudi Arabia. He is the son of Muhammad and Aleema.

Abdul Nazar was reported missing in September 2008. He was working at Aldrees petrol pump at Sulai in Riyad then.

Abdul Nazar’s family had believed that he was under police custody for want of documents for identification.

The family members had petitioned the chief minister, external affairs minister and Indian Embassy after Abdul Nazar went missing. Later, investigations by the Indian Embassy found that he had died.

The Embassy officials informed Abdul Nazar’s family about his death on Thursday. Abdul Nazar is survived by wife Najmath and their daughter Naja Fathima.
