Visa fraud: 16 Keralites cheated in Sharjah
Sharjah: In a shocking incident, Keralites were trapped in visa fraud racket in Sharjah. A group of 16 Keralites from Palakkad, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta were cheated by the members of the visa racket who belonged to Kerala.
Majority of the people who were cheated belong to the age group of 20 to 35. According to the employees, a Pathanamthitta native is acting as middle man with the visa fraud group.
People from poor families were targeted in the fraud. The visa fraudsters convinced the people to pay the money for visa as instalment after joining the job in Sharjah. Hence, the people moved to Sharjah without paying money for visa.
They have been working at construction sites without proper salary since a year. It is reported that these people arrived here on visiting visa. So far, the agents have not taken any action to issue job visa to them.
“The agents collected 2400 DH to 4500 DH from us for visa processing,” said the workers.
Some people who were trapped in the visa fraud left Sharjah after arranging money by selling their property in Kerala.
At the same time, a group of people are still struggling here without any means for their livelihood.
The employees complained that the company refused to give medical care to one of them who suffered burn injuries.
