Uncertainty over chartered flights from UAE to India as centre cancels permission
Dubai: The Ministry of Civil Aviation is likely to cancel the permission granted for airlines in UAE to operate chartered flights to India. It is learned that the ministry has been rejecting the applications from airlines.
However, Kuwait Airways has announced international flight services to destinations in India including Kerala from August 1.
For the last few days, chartered flights services from UAE to India were operated. But, now the central government has decided to refuse permission to such services.
At the same time, many organisations of Indian expats have approached the central government seeking permission to operate chartered flights from airlines like Emirates, Air Arabia and Etihad. But so far, the centre has not considered these applications.
It is learned that the central government has decided that only Indian airlines should be allowed to operate chartered services. Diplomats of India and UAE are holding talks in this regard. But both parties are yet to reach a consensus.
There is no uncertainty over the operation of chartered flights from other Gulf countries to India.
Meanwhile, Kuwait declared that they will resume international flight services from August 1. It is reported that Kuwait will operate flights to 7 Indian cities including Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
