Sponsor bails out Kerala man before breathing his last
Riyadh: Jithesh was both happy and sad on Tuesday when he learned that his sponsor in Riyadh who helped him to get released from jail, died of old age on the same day.
Jithesh, a native of Kayamkulam, was working as a domestic help for Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Ayid Al Usaimi, a Taif native in Makkah province of Saudi Arabia. Jithesh has been in jail for six years after the vehicle he drove hit and killed a native man. For six years, Jithesh was imprisoned and was entangled in legal problems, unable to go home.
Aged Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Ayid Al Usaimi was like a father figure for Jithesh. Abdullah in return loved his staff as his own son. In connection with the case, court ordered to pay a sum of 3,17,000 riyal as blood money for family of the deceased. For many days, Jithesh was granted bail in the name of his sponsor Abdullah. However, when Abdullah became bedridden due to age-related ailments, court cancelled the bail and jailed Jithesh.
Knowing his story, social workers initiated to collect money to pay the fine amount. Abdullah who came to know about this move agreed to pay the whole sum by himself. On Tuesday afternoon, he signed all documents in this regard and Jithesh was released from the jail on the same day. But, by Tuesday evening, Abdullah died.
Jithesh used to call Abdullah ‘vappa’ which in Malayalam means ‘father’. Learning about the demise of Abdullah, Jithesh said in tears ‘my vappa died’.
