Malayali doctor saves expatriate from rare, fatal disease in UAE

Abu Dhabi: A Malayali doctor rescued the life of an expatriate who was affected by a severe and rare bacteria-induced infection. Goa native Nithesh Sadhanand was miraculously saved by Dr Niyas Khalid.

Nithesh was infected with sepsis syndrome which is reported as 75 per cent fatal. He was saved by the timely intervention of Dr Niyas in diagnosing the bacterial infection and providing the proper treatment.

Dr Niyas is a native of Perinthalmanna in the Malappuram district. Nithesh has been working in UAE for the past 27 years and he was diagnosed with the disease soon after he returned from India after his leave in August.

The presence of the bacteria was detected after a detailed test taken when his health was seriously deprived. It took 54 days for him to revive his health from the Burjeel Medical City of Abu Dhabi.
