Runway closure in Dubai Airport; Drop in number of flights
Dubai: One of the runways at the Dubai International Airport has been closed down for 45 days since April 16 for renovation. The runway will be reopened on May 30. With this, there will be a decline of 32 percent in the number of flight services. As some companies are likely to use larger aircrafts, there will be only 26 percent decline in the number of seats.
At least 145 flights will operate from Al Maktoum International Airport within this period. The services of Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Fly Dubai, Gulf Air, Nepal Airlines and Kuwait Airways have been shifted to Al Maktoum airport.
Changes in Kerala services also
The flight services of Fly Dubai in 42 routes will be shifted to Al Maktoum airport. These services include those to Kochi and Kozhikode also. Some of the services of Air India and Air India Express are shifted to Sharjah International Airport.
The Kochi service of Air India Express is shifted to Sharjah. Also the services to Chennai, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Goa from Dubai are shifted to Sharjah. The flights will take off from Sharjah without any changes in the time schedule.
