Over 5 lakh expats register for repatriation, only 1.2 lakh arrive home
Kannur: With the COVID pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, more than 700 flights as part of Vande Bharat Mission and those chartered flights arrived in Kerala carrying evacuees. A total of 1,20,183 persons out of the 5,09,196 people who had registered on NORKA website for repatriation have returned home.
In the first phase of Vande Bharat Mission, 1114 flights obtained permission from state and central governments. As on June 26 early morning, 648 flights have landed in the state with the highest numbers scheduled between June 25 and 30. 118 flights have been scheduled from UAE alone, of which 94 are chartered.
17 flights are from Qatar, 3 from UAE and one each from Kenya, France, Vietnam, Georgia, Ukraine and New Zealand.
