Kuwait City: Only three flights from Kuwait to Kerala are included in the third phase of Vande Bharat Mission to repatriate the NRIs stranded in other countries due to COVID-19 outbreak. The flight service from Kuwait begins on June 9. A total of 6 flights from Kuwait to India are scheduled now and 3 among them is to Kerala.
The first flight to Kerala will take off from Kuwait on June 9 at 2 pm and land at Kozhikode by 9.20 pm. The second flight takes off on June 12 at 3.40 pm and land at Thiruvananthapuram by 11.10 pm. The last flight to Kerala will leave Kuwait on June 14 at 11.30 am and land in Kochi by 7 pm.
The officials informed that more flight services will be scheduled to other states as part of the third phase of Vande Bharat Mission. However, only 10 percent of the total NRIs who registered in the embassy could reach home through the mission so far. Though over 50,000 people registered in Kuwait alone, only 2000 expats could come back in 10 flights till date.
The embassy registration was stopped on May 15 and resumed on June 1. Meanwhile, many organisations and travel agencies in Kuwait started registration for chartered flights. Though final nod is not received, thousands of people showed interest in booking chartered flights.
