Malayali doctor Jyothi Arayambath wins local election in England

Payyannur: Kannur native Dr Jyothi Arayambath won in the local election to Boston Borough Council in England. Dr Jyothi, who works as a locum consultant psychiatrist in the NHS has been elected from the Trinity ward in Boston, Lincolnshire.

She contested in the election for Boston Independent Party and won with a majority of 1 vote. She beat the mayor candidate of the Conservative Party.

Jyothi is a daughter of Edattu native late Vannalath Appukuttan Nair and Arayambath Padmini. She had studied in Saint Mary’s Girls High School and Payyannur College. Later she pursued MBBS at Government Medical College, Kozhikode.

Dr Jyothi is a founder and managing trustee of Mental Health Action Trust in the UK.
