Kozhikode native wins Rs 24 cr in Abi Dhabi big ticket draw
Abu Dhabi: Kozhikode native Assain Muhammad won the duty free big ticket jackpot in Abu Dhabi. He turned a millionaire by winning Dhs 12 million (around Rs 24.6 cr) in the jackpot.
Assain is working at the sales department of a bakery in Ajman.
“I was surprised when I got the call from the Duty Free. I just said to them that I am happy and disconnected the call with excitement. Earlier, I thought somebody is tricking me. But when I read the news in an online website, I realized I am the jackpot winner,” said Assain.
“I consider this prize as the biggest reward in my struggling life. Though I am an expat for 27 years, I do not have any savings. I tried my luck by taking the big ticket sharing the ticket cost with my friends thrice. But this time, I took the ticket independently and turned lucky. I took the ticket carrying the number 139411 via online on May 14, added the lucky man.
Assain’s family includes his wife Shareefa and two daughters Sana Fatima and Ala Fatima.
Assain said that he will use the money to improve his life at his native place and secure his daughter’s future.
“I used to help the struggling people as I can and I will continue it,” he added. Indian expats won the second, sixth and 7th draws of the duty free bumper. Another Indian won a jeep from another raffle of the duty-free.
The Big Ticket is the largest and longest-running monthly raffle draw for cash prizes and dream luxury cars in Abu Dhabi.
