Keralite lady entrepreneur, who went bankrupt and imprisoned in Dubai, is safe now
kozhikode: Anitha, Keralite entreupreneur in Dubai, whose life turned out to be no less than a tragic movie, has been shifted to a safe shelter according to reliable sources in UAE. Anitha who has been based in Dubai for quite sometime lost everything including her wealth and family in a dramatic twist of fate. She lived a luxurious life prior to losing it . Once she ran a business firm in the UAE and owned incredible wealth both abroad and in her native place at Alappuzha. But for the last few weeks, she has been living near a temple at Bur Dubai waiting for others to provide for her subsistence.
Anitha’s father, who was an employee at ISRO, took voluntary retirement and reached Dubai and set up a company of his own. Later, Anitha married Balu, who is a native of Muthukulam in Alappuzha and they both established a company with their experience in this field. By then, Anitha’s father returned to Kerala. Initially their enterprise worked well. It included several companies working under an umbrella group partnered by the husband and wife. But soon everything toppled down.
According to her statement, her husband had taken a loan from a bank which he could not repay. She claims that she did not sign to be a guarantor of the loan. However, the case befell on her as her husband went back to Alappuzha and did not return. She had to spend a few years in the prisons of Dubai Al Awir and Sharjah .
Even after the imprisonment was over, she could not return to Kerala as she was banned from travelling. She has to clear the bank loans to lift the ban on her. There are three civil cases against her . Besides, her passport and visa also had expired. Some benevolent hearts in Dubai including the Keralites are trying to help her in these cases.
“Some clarity is required to go forward with the case and help Anitha. Several uncertainties exist on how she had been dragged into this case. We are approaching the police to get Anitha out of these cases. Now she has been shifted to a secure place and she is safe now”, said Shiju Basheer, an office bearer of Orma Dubai.
After she had been released from the jail, she used to live near a temple at Bur Dubai. Many people approached her offering help, but she refused to accept them. She has two sons. One of them resides in Dubai and he often visits Anitha. But she was adamant not to go with him. After her story got reported in the social media, radios and newspapers of Dubai, she was willing to move to a better location.
