Indian Embassy officials hold discussion with Nimisha Priya; to meet Yemen man's family
Kochi: The Indian Embassy officials visited the Keralite woman, Nimisha Priya, who has been imprisoned in Yemen and has been sentenced to death. They visited her to discuss Nimisha’s mercy petition. The officials will meet and hold discussions with the family of the Yemeni citizen who was murdered.
The officers are trying for an out of court settlement by holding discussions with the family. Nimisha’s family responded that the action taken by the embassy gives them relief.
The case filed against Nimisha is that she murdered a Yemeni citizen and hid his body inside a water tank after cutting it into pieces. The victim, Talal Abdu Mehdi, had claimed using fake documents that he had married Nimisha.
Nimisha stated that she sought his help in order to open a clinic but he ended up cheating her financially. Nimisha’s mother stated that she might have committed the crime in order to escape from his torture.
In August, the supreme court in Yemen had stayed the execution of death penalty. This was after considering the petition that sought the postponement of the punishment.
