ICA registration mandatory for UAE residents to return
Dubai: Authorities have confirmed that for residents to return to UAE, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) registration is mandatory.
While applying through the website https://uaeentry.ica.gov.ae, the person should provide Emirates ID card number, country and passport type and number. If a green tick is obtained, he/she has been approved for return. If it is a red tick, the application has been rejected.
The authorities had earlier declared that those residents wishing to return need not apply for an entry permit. The ICA will automatically grant pre-approval for expats with a valid visa wishing to return. However, the residents should have valid registration and with updated details.
Many are still confused about the procedures. Many passengers were stranded at Abu Dhabi and Sharjah airports as they didn’t have valid registration. Five malayalees couldn’t enter outside the Abu Dhabi airport as they hadn’t completed the registration procedures. Etihad flew four of them back to Kerala. One person obtained special permission after 35 hours and entered the country. Many foreign nationals also faced a similar crisis.
Those with valid Dubai visa should register at https://amer.gdrfad.gov.ae/. Also a Covid negative test result done within 96 hours is mandatory. This certificate is not needed for children below 12 years .
