Heavy rain in UAE; water enters Dubai mall

Dubai: Heavy rain and strong winds lashed UAE on Sunday causing flashfloods in several areas.

Dubai mall and its surrounding areas were inundated. Flight services through Dubai international airport was also adversely affected.

Owing to the bad weather, several schools in Sharjah and Fujairah closed early. Cloudy skies persisted across the country.

The weather department has said that rains will continue for two more days. As waves could reach heights of nine feet, people have been warned from venturing into the sea.

Officials have directed the public to exercise caution and follow instructions issued by government officials and police.
