Dubai: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that prime minister Narendra Modi had given oral permission for the foreign trip of the ministers as part of fund raising for flood relief, but he did not keep his word.
The chief minister was addressing the gathering at Dubai Al Nasr Leisureland as part of rebuilding Kerala mission. He said that he sought permission for the ministers’ foreign trip after meeting the prime minister in person.
The PM responded in favour of the request and had said that they can meet the charity organisations. Later, he denied permission. We don’t understand why he did so, the chief minister said.
Though many foreign countries came forward to help Kerala, the central government denied permission to accept the favour. When the prime minister was the chief minister of Gujarat, he accepted foreign aid during a disaster there. But he took a different stand in the case of Kerala, the CM said.
Kerala is not ready to get defeated. We have to rebuild our land. Nobody can stop us from rebuilding our state. Expatriates are the strength of Kerala. We have trust in them. All Kerala expats should take part in the rebuilding mission, Pinarayi Vijayan said.
