Doha: More than 75 people including Keralites were subjected to a huge fraud in the name of fake recruitment to Ceprotec, a company functioning in Qatar for over 20 years.
The fake recruitment was conducted by AVM HR Consultancy with headquarters in Chennai. Ceprotec authorities said they will take legal action against the fraudulent act.
The candidates were invited for interview at Titus Tech Skill Institute at Padi in Balaji Nagar on July 5, 6 and 7 to various positions at Ceprotec. Those who were selected were asked to surrender passport and Rs 3000 for medical examination. They were also asked to pay up Rs 65,000 for visa.
After the interview, when the candidates contacted Ceprotec, through friends and family in Qatar, they came to know of the fraud. Business development manager Sujith Gopinath, HR in-charge Sarath Sabu said they have filed complaint with Indian Embassy in Qatar, Labour Department and Chennai Police Commissioner.
The company officials said that a person named Raju had spearheaded the recruitment and the passport, money have not been returned.
Ceprotec had conducted interview in various cities in India to provide labourers to many institutions in Qatar including government services. Company authorities believe that this could be the reason to use Ceprotec’s name for this fraudulent activity.
Qatar is adopting stringent measures to stop illegal recruitments from other countries. Qatar India Visa centres are functioning in many places including Kochi for recruitment services. Those who seek jobs in Qatar can contact these centres to avoid being duped.
