Efforts for out-of-court settlement in Thushar’s cheque case
Dubai: Efforts have been initiated for an out-of-court settlement in the cheque bounce case involving BDJS leader Thushar Vellappally in Ajman. Thushar, who was granted bail on Thursday, spoke over phone with complainant Nazil Abdullah in this regard.
It is reported that both have reached a consensus for out-of-court settlement. As per bail conditions, Thushar should appear at the court on Sunday. Efforts are being made to solve the case before that.
In the complaint filed, Nazil has submitted the cheque worth 9 million UAE Dirhams (Rs 19 crore), given by Thushar. But, the case is being compromised in an agreement with both parties, without repaying the full amount. Nazil has confirmed that he will withdraw the case if a final decision is reached.
The legal team of NRI businessman M A Yusuff Ali, who helped Thushar to get bail, have advised him that since the case relates to an incident ten years ago, he can win it in court.
But the trail may take a long time to end during the time period of which Thushar won’t be able to leave UAE as his passport is surrendered at the court. In this situation. It is better to settle the case by convincing Nazil, Thushar has been advised.
However, it is known that Nazil is putting pressure on Thushar even for the settlement.
