Dinosaur skeleton in Dubai Mall to be auctioned; Starting price Rs 28 cr
Dubai: The Dubai based Emirates Auction is planning to put for auction the Dinosaur skeleton which is a crowd puller at Dubai Mall. The skeleton was set up in the mall five years ago.
This is for the first time a skeleton is being auctioned at Emirates Auction that put for sale rare and expensive artefacts. The starting price of the auction is Rs 28 crore (Dh 14.6 million). The online auction will continue up to August 25.
The dinosaur skeleton is 24.4 metre long and 7 metre tall. It is assumed that the dinosaur was 25 years old and it lived in the Jurassic period. According to historians, the dinosaur’s weight was equal to five elephants.
The skeleton, suspected to be of Diplodocus Longus, was found in sleeping position from Dana Quarry in Wyoming in the USA in 2008. Earlier, it was displayed at Houston museum. In 2014, Khalid Seddiq, the founder of Etihad Modern Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi purchased it and exhibited in Dubai Mall.
