Conducting talks to provide TrueNat kits for expats in Gulf: Pinarayi Vijayan
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is conducting talks to provide TrueNat kits to expats in Gulf countries which do not have facilities to conduct rapid tests for COVID-19, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.
The CM was addressing the media after a coronavirus review meeting here. Permission of Indian embassies in the respective countries and cooperation of airline companies are needed to provide the TrueNat kits, he added.
UAE and Qatar already have test facilities. But the kits will be helpful for those returning from Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Oman, the CM said.
So far, 2,79,657 persons have returned to Kerala from abroad and other states. Out of this, 1,172 have tested positive for COVID-19. 669 among them returned from abroad while 503 returned from other states, the CM elaborated.
