Dubai: Air India has unified the air fares for flying human remains from Gulf countries to India.
Earlier the carrier had come under severe criticism for its system of charging fares based on the weight of the body being transported.
As per the new guidelines, flat rate of Dh1500 will be charged for repatriation of bodies irrespective of destination and weight of the body for those above 12 years of age. In case of children below 12 years, the rate will be Dh750. In addition Customs Duty of Dh110 will have to be paid.
The new rates will come into force from January 5, 2019.
