10 Keralites die in Gulf countries due to COVID-19 on Sunday
Dubai: 10 Keralites died in Gulf region due to COVID-19 on Sunday alone. So far more than 150 Keralites have died in all six Gulf countries.
Malappuram native Shamseer Poovadan (30) died in Damam Al Hasa. Idukki native Sabu Kumar (52) died in Saudi Arabia and Tirur native Sundaram (63) died in Kuwait. Kannur native Mooppan Mammootty (69), Thrissur native Mohanan (58), Anchal native Vijayanath (68),Changarakkulam natives Abubacker Chullipparambil (52), Moideenkutty (52), Perinthalmanna native PTS Ashraff and Pathanmthitta native Pavithran Damodaran are the ones who died on Sunday.
So far, 1082 people have died in Gulf countries due to the pandemic. Out of this, 505 are from Saudi Arabia, 267 from UAE and 22 in Kuwait.
More than 2.2 lakh people have tested positive for the virus in the Gulf countries. Saudi Arabia has 84,000 patients while Qatar and UAE has 56,910 and 34,577 cases respectively. 661 new COVID-19 cases were reported in UAE. Saudi Arabia and Qatar reported 1877 and 1648 new cases respectively.
With two more COVID deaths on Sunday, total deaths in Qatar has reached 38. In Saudi Arabia 23 people died on Sunday.
The spike in death of Keralites in Gulf countes has made the expat community anxious. In the last weeks, more than 50 Keralites succumbed to COVID-19 in Gulf countries.
