Supplyco to pay arrears to farmers for paddy procurement from Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies GR Anil announced that the state government has granted Rs 278.93 crore for Supplyco to pay arrears to farmers that was pending for paddy procurement.

The amount will be transferred to the account of farmers from Monday.

Supplyco has procured 1.92 lakh tonnes of paddy from 66,656 farmers. Out of the total Rs 495.52 crore that has to be paid to the farmers, the corporation has already paid Rs 184.72 crore for 23,591 farmers. The remaining Rs 310.80 crore is pending to be paid.

Minister GR Anil reminded that the state has not received Centre’s grant worth Rs 400 crore for paddy procurement yet.
