Supplyco to expand business to overseas market

Kochi: The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation (Supplyco) is expanding business to overseas market.

As a first step, Sabari brand tea powder that has huge demand in Kerala will be exported to Gulf countries. The exports are expected to begin within two months. In the first phase, 20 tonnes of Sabari tea powder per month will be exported through Kochi port. If the product has momentum in the Gulf market, then the quantity of exports will be increased.

Apart from tea powder, Supplyco has been planning to export other products too. Sabari brand has 13 other products including coconut oil, masala powders, soap and notebook.

Meanwhile, in Kerala market, the sale of the tea powder is 200 to 250 tonnes per month. The monthly returns from the sales is around Rs 5 crore. The sales often witness an increase during the Onam season.
