Kottayam: The secretary of the Kerala Finance department issued an order asserting that the arrears of pension revision and dearness allowance will not be paid soon. Though the department had assured to disburse the dues soon, an acute financial crisis has urged the government to resort to such severe steps.

The government had released two orders ensuring to dispense the third and fourth installments of the pension revision arrears (both service pensioners and family pensioners) and dearness relief in the current and next financial years. However, the latest order reported that the government is not in a state to take up such a huge financial liability. Further decisions regarding the arrears will be taken based on the financial status during the next fiscal year.

The latest order will be applicable for the gratuities of the deceased government employees and leave encashment of the retired employees.

The order claims that the finance department has been formulating strategies to tide over the ongoing financial distress of the state.
