Paper production to commence at KPPL on Kerala Day

Kottayam: Paper production will commence at Kerala Paper Products Limited (KPPL) in Velloor on a commercial scale on Kerala Day. Though the production will begin on November 1, a large-scale production can be initiated only gradually.

KPPL special officer Prasad Balakrishnan informed that the production capacity of the plant per month will be at least 1 lakh tonne per month.

The renovation of the plant began on January 1, 2022. Paper machine, de-inking plant, power boilers and turbine generators were restored by spending Rs 34.30 crore in the first phase, while chemical recovery plant, chemical pulping plant and mechanical pulping plant were repaired under an expense of Rs 44.94 crore in the second phase of renovation.

A capital of Rs 75.15 crore has been set aside for its operations.

Finance Minister KN Balagopal will inaugurate the plant on November 1 at 10 am. Minister P Rajeev will preside over the ceremony in which Minister AK Saseendran has been invited as the chief guest.
