Kerala's food exports rise 8.5% to Rs 3,860 crores in FY22/23

Kochi: Kerala's food product exports witnessed a significant growth of 8.57% in the last financial year (FY 2022/23), generating Rs 3,860.29 crores from the export of 3,77,593.13 tons. This surpassed the previous year's figures of Rs 3,555.28 crores and 2,76,876.60 tons recorded in FY 2021/22.

The major export products are Cashews, Rice, Fruits-Vegetables, Milk Products, Meat and Grains. The state received the highest revenue from exporting Cashews (Rs 1,299.33 crores).

The previous financial year experienced a remarkable 65.3% surge in the export of mangoes cultivated within the state, with 1,333.42 tons of mangoes exported, fetching a total of Rs 19.60 crores. Notably, Qatar emerged as the preferred export destination for mangoes from Kerala.

Further, in the previous financial year, Kerala's exports included 89,256.23 tons of rice (amounting to Rs 466.27 crores), 36,771.76 tons of vegetables (valued at Rs 275.50 crores), and 1,937.24 tons of milk products (worth Rs 123.74 crores).
